Technologies made traveling much easier. Today, even if you don't speak the language of the country, there are apps that will help you with transportation, accommodation and language. In this post you can find few apps that I personally regularly use when I come back home. They are all translated to English.

Of course, Google Maps is the first app that comes to my mind. Almost all smartphone users have it. My tip: download the map of the area where you'll be. It can be useful when you don't have internet.

The language app that I've been using for past at least 7 years - Lingvo. There are free dictionaries Russian - German/French/Spanish/Italian etc.

I mentioned earlier Google Maps, but there is really good Russian app Yandex Maps or Y.Maps that has even more detailed map. In my opinion, it is better to use this app than Google Maps as it is more likely to show you a better itinerary from point A to B.

If you're staying in Moscow or Saint-Petersburg, app Yandex.Metro is for you. Simple app, very easy to understand. You won't get lost in metro.

In terms of getting around, you can use Uber or Yandex.Taxi. You can pay by card, Apple Pay or cash. Again, sometimes better as it's a Russian app, but Uber saved me couple of times. There is also a price difference: Uber tends to be cheaper. However, depends on time and where you are.

There are more apps that can help you in Russia. In next posts, I'll give you more apps that more related to traveling.
